Conor McGregor looks to be as good as his word as he is set to take the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to court over the fine he was issued after the UFC 202 press conference.
A scuffle erupted between him and Nate Diaz's camp after McGregor turned up late to the event, and the California fighter decided that he wasn't going to hang around to be insulted by the Irish fighter in advance of their bout. Words were exchanged and, more importantly in the NSAC's view, bottles were thrown, which lead to them hitting the Dubliner with a punishment.
He was fined 5% of his purse for the event, which amounted to $150,000, while he was also ordered to do 50 hours of community service.
McGregor didn't take too kindly to that verdict and told Rolling Stone in a recent interview that he had called to apologise over the incident, expecting that the NSAC would appreciate the gesture and take that into account when deciding on what punishment to hand down.
He expressed his contrition for throwing the bottle, adding that: "I acted wrong, and all I will say is I’m sorry for this."

"I thought they might respect that a little bit more. I owned up. I manned up. I’m here. I apologized," McGregor told Rolling Stone.
"I'm not trying to blame nobody, although they fired the rounds off first. I didn't think they would even go that route because I didn't think this was like a real thing. Are they going to come and arrest me or what the f**k is that?
"I wanted to give them the respect, and I felt they would have respected that, but they didn't. So, whatever. It is what it is. Good luck trying to get it."
He looks set to carry through on that stance too, as according to MMA Junkie, the UFC star has lodged a petition with a court in Nevada asking for a judicial review of his fine.
McGregor has named the Executive Director of the NSAC Bob Bennett as a respondent in the case, and, as he said before, will see them in court.
Nate Diaz has yet to have his hearing over the same incident with the NSAC.
