Conor McGregor reportedly set for role in new Game of Thrones series

Since winning a second belt in the UFC, Conor McGregor's future has looked brighter then ever.

His victory over Eddie Alvarez in November solidified him as one of the promotion's greatest ever fighters and made him the first in UFC history to hold two belts in two weight divisions concurrently.

After the fight, he called on the UFC for equity in the company, with the promotion yet to address this in any serious way, at least publicly. As a result, McGregor has made moves to keep himself in the headlines, including recently being granted a boxing license in the state of California.

These have stoked the fires of a fabled boxing match with Floyd Mayweather and the latest reports may see him make the switch to the silver screen.

Reported Belfast newspaper, Sunday Life, this week, that McGregor will appear in at some point in the final two series of Game of Thrones.

The paper gives no details as to the character he will play, but a "well-placed source" close to the publication states that his scenes have already been filmed.

McGregor recently was included in the latest in the Call of Duty video game series, Infinite Warfare. He turned down a role in Vin Diesel's latest film - XxX: Return of Xander Cage - to focus on his training.

"He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan," the paper claims. "They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show."

Game of Thrones have regularly featured Coldplay drummer Will Champion, as well as Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody.
