Khabib Nurmagomedov wants to fight lightweight rival Tony Ferguson to confirm who will be Conor McGregor's next title contender.

Nurmagomedov has been quite vocal since beating Michael Johnson on the undercard of UFC 205, a win that improved his record to 24-0, and added to an eight-fight win streak in the UFC.

Ferguson, however, is currently riding a nine-fight win streak, culminating with a win over former lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos in November.

McGregor is due to take a break from fighting as he awaits the birth of his first child. The Dubliner fought four times in the space of twelve months winning both the featherweight and lightweight titles, while also fitting in two dust-ups with Nate Diaz.

In a message posted to Instagram, the Russian said: "It is clear to everyone that you hiding Conor from me. But stop lying to your fans like I don't want fight with Aldo, I'm ready to fight with anyone in my division. Give me relevant fight, so you won't be able to hide the belt from me after.

"But not the fight, where people say after my victory: he is too small, Khabib too big for him etc.

"I'm asking you for match that whole world is waiting for, give me Tony. You have never matched up two guys with 9 and 8 win streak in UFC, NEVER IN UFC HISTORY," he added.

Of Course McGregor and Jose Aldo put long unbeaten streaks on the line before they fought, as did Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, so Nurmagomedov may need to reconsider his "calling out" tactics.

McGregor has also been challenged of late by Tyron Woodley, who said he was happy to fight in Ireland if it meant the bout would get over the line.

It's almost as if getting a fight against Conor McGregor is worth a lot of money, or something...
