Conor O'Shea is to leave Harlequins at the end of the season

Conor O'Shea is to leave Harlequins as their Director of Rugby at the end of the season it has been announced.

The Limerick native took charge of the London team in 2010 and has led the club to their only Premiership title in 2012.

“I will have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to contribute to this special Club for over six years come May. I have enjoyed working with everybody at Harlequins, from the players to the staff to the supporters, having said that, the end of this season is the right time for me to move on", he revealed in a statement.

O'Shea took charge of the team after the "Bloodgate" scandal, and took up his position in March 2010. He helped the team restore their reputation after the previous Director of Rugby Dean Richards was suspended from the game.

The Limerick native has never coached in Ireland, despite gaining an impressive reputation in England. Along with his tenure at Harlequins, O'Shea led London Irish in the early 2000's before spells at the RFU and the English Institute of Sport.
