Stuart Byrne says Cork City's 6-0 thrashing of Longford Town last night is the type of result to "stand up and take note" of.

The former Shelbourne midfielder joined us on Off The Ball as always for Tuesday night League of Ireland analysis and that result grabbed his attention with an eye on a title race which is likely to feature Cork City, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers.

"Don't forget 6-0 in this league is by all stretch and means a wonderful result. These are the kind of results we were expecting from Dundalk last year, so to see Cork do that to Longford - albeit a poor Longford team - I would stand up and take note," he said.

Next up for Cork is a trip to take on title rivals Dundalk and Stuey added that he is intrigued to see how John Caulfield's side cope with that challenge this year in comparison to 2015 when Dundalk's superiority was clear from the outset.
