The 2016 President's Cup will take place on Saturday, February 27, at 2pm in Turner’s Cross between Cork City and Dundalk.
The President's Cup is normally played between the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division winners and the Irish Daily Mail FAI Cup winners but, as Dundalk won the double in 2015, Cork City, who were runners-up in both competitions, have been selected to contest the first trophy of the domestic football season.
Dundalk are also the current holders of the President's Cup having beaten the 2014 winners St Patrick’s Athletic last February in Oriel Park.
The President’s Cup has been contested each year since 2014 having been presented to the Football Association of Ireland by Uachtarain na hÉireann, Michael D Higgins, who has confirmed that he will be in attendance at the 2016 game.
