Could Tiger Woods be planning to become a Ryder Cup captain?

Former World number one Tiger Woods has told Davis Love III that is he willing to be a vice captain at next year's Ryder Cup in Minnesota should he fail to make the team.

Love was speaking yesterday to Sky Sports at Hazeltine as the golf club celebrated their one year to go celebrations before the start of the event. Despite the offer from Woods to Love, the captain expects 14 time major winner to make the team if fully fit.

"I think Tiger, if he is healthy for the whole year, will be fine. If he is in and out, does not get to play a whole lot of tournaments, it will be tough for him to make the team." Woods last played in the Ryder Cup in 2012 in Medinah. He missed last years event at Gleneagles due to injury.

Love, who also captained the side in 2012, expects to have an experienced backroom team of former players should they not make the 12 man team. "Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, they have all said 'we will do whatever it takes to help you', and we have them on the list. They are obviously guys that could be future captains, guys that we want around the team. We are hoping that all four of them are playing, we need their veteran leadership, but, if not, they have said 'look, I will do whatever it takes'".

Europe go into next years event having won eight of the last ten events. Paul McGinley's side beat the Americans last year 16.5-11.5.
