Manchester United's new manager Jose Mourinho has been given the seal of approval by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Both Ronaldo and Mourinho worked together at Real Madrid where they won a La Liga title and Copa del Rey together. Ronaldo previously spent six season at Old Trafford where he won every major domestic and European club title.

Ronaldo is preparing to play in his second Champions League final for Real Madrid and spoke to Spanish television show Jugones de la Sexta ahead of the game. In the interview he spoke about his relationship with Mourinho and his hopes for the club that made him a global superstar.

"I hope Manchester United get back to being what they were", The Sun have reported Ronaldo to have revealed. "It’s an impressive club, but in the last years they lacked an identity a bit."

"And it hurts me seeing United like that because it’s a club I carry in my heart. I wish Mourinho can restore them back to the top."

The two men fell out at Real Madrid, over what Ronaldo perceived as negative tactics, but the striker claimed there are no issues between the two of them now.

"Without any problems I would embrace him. One of my great qualities is to not hold grudges at anyone regardless of the damage they may have done to me."

If Real Madrid beat their local rivals Atletico on Saturday night, it will be the third time Ronaldo has won the Champions League.
