Cristiano Ronaldo scores his 70th goal for Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 69th and 70th goals of his international career, as Portugal defeated Hungary 3-0 on Saturday night in a World Cup qualifier.

The 32-year-old is only the 13th player to score 70 goals in international football. He is the top goalscorer for active players at international level.

Since Euro 2016, Ronaldo has score nine goals in his last four games. In Lisbon, he scored the second and third goals, either side of half-time to give the European Champions their fourth win in a row, after losing the opening qualifier to Switzerland in Basel.

The striker scored both of his goals from outside the box, beating goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi from an Andre Silva flick, and also from a free-kick, beating the goalkeeper at the far post.

Only two European player have scored more international goals the Ronaldo. Hungarian legend Ferenc Puskas has scored 84 goals, with German World Cup winner Miroslav Klose scoring 71 goals.

Iranian striker Ali Daei scored 109 goals in his international career, and is the all-time leading goalscorer at international level.

Puskas is in second place in the all-time standings, with Ronaldo needing another 14 goals to match the 'The Galloping Major'.

The Real Madrid striker has the opportunity to add to his Portuguese goal tally in a friendly at home to Sweden on Tuesday in his home town of Funchal in Madeira.
