Cyrus Christie injury update makes for grim reading ahead of World Cup qualifier

The Derby County player was substituted over the weekend with an ankle knock

Cyrus Christie has been ruled out of Ireland's provisional squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Austria.

The Derby County player will be sidelined for at least three months and is expected to see a surgeon soon after suffering an ankle injury during his side's 3-2 over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He took to Twitter today, to express his disappointment.

The final Ireland squad is yet to be announced for the clash against Austria with injury assessments due to take place in Dublin today.
