'D'Arcy hasn't got the credit he deserved' - Brian O'Driscoll

Listen back in full via the podcast

Brian O'Driscoll believes his long-time centre partner Gordon D'Arcy should get far more credit for his contributions over the years.

BOD was guest presenting tonight's show with Ger as he will be doing on many-a-Friday and while talking about the intricacies of playing at 12 and 13, he heaped praise on his former Leinster and Ireland colleague.

"D'Arcy has probably not got the credit he deserved. I've had the best seat in the house to see how good he's been for the last decade and how important he's been to me and the teams that we've been involved in," said Brian, who praised his ex-team-mate's defending and also feels that D'Arcy could "comfortably play at 13".

He also feels that Tommy Bowe can also play in the position that Brian vacated for Ireland when he retired at the end of last season.

"He's more than capable. But for him, having seen the success of the team in the Six Nations, he just wants to get himself back in the team in some jersey."

Brian also went into the details of what it is like to play at both 12 and 13 and the inner workings of their on-pitch partnership and why it mixing and matching is both common and important in centre partnerships.

He also gave an insight into his on-pitch relationship with Jonny Sexton over the years and revealed who won out when plays were being decided.

The former Leinster and Ireland man also the extent of his nerves in the lead up to the games with most at stake.

"I have different levels of weirdness on the day of a game. So my wife Amy would've known at what point to leave me alone or to get out of the house because you go through the gears of becoming odder and odder and getting into your own little world."
