DR Congo go top of their Africa Cup of Nations group as Ivory Coast are held by Adebayor's Togo

DR Congo have taken a surprise lead at the the top of Group C after Day 3 at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Leopards beat Morocco 1-0 to head to the top of the standings ahead of Ivory Coast, Togo and Morocco.

In a tight match, DR Congo who are wearing kits designed by Irish sportswear manufacturers O'Neill's, took the lead Hervé Kage, who finished coolly with a shot from inside the box on 55 minutes.

Victory lifts the side managed by Florent Ibengé to the top of Group C on three points.

Morocco will rue an early chance when an excellent effort from Mbark Boussoufa hit the crossbar.

Earlier, 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winners Ivory Coast were unable to overcome a Togo side featuring former Arsenal, Tottenham and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who is currently without a club after leaving Crystal Palace at the end of last season.

Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, who has played two friendly games for England before switching to the country of his birth ahead of the 2017 Nations Cup, started for Ivory Coast but the Elephants who also had Stoke City striker Wilfried Bony up front off the bench and Manchester United defender Eric Bailly at the back could only grind out a dull 0-0 draw.
