Dan Martin closes gap on the leader at Volta a Catalunya

He remains fourth in the classifications

Dan Martin has closed the gap to the leader in the Volta a Catalunya to 21 seconds.

The Irishman is fourth in the standings after Stage 5 between Rialp and Valls, having started 24 seconds behind Colombia's Nairo Alexandar Quintana of the Movistar Team.

Spain's Alberto Contador is second, seven seconds off the lead and 10 seconds clear of Australia's Richie Portie.

Netherlands' Wouter Poels won today's stage with Martin 12th but faster than Contador and the other riders in the Top 4 of the General Classification.
