Dana White warns Conor McGregor could lose his belt if he doesn't "clean this up fast"

UFC president Dana White has warned that Conor McGregor risks losing his featherweight title if the current impasse with the organisation is not cleared up.

McGregor was pulled from his UFC200 fight with Nate Diaz over the sticking point of media obligations.

Before that was announced by the UFC, the Dubliner hinted at retirement on Twitter.

While his immediate future with the UFC remains unclear, in an interview with Fox Sport Radio White has warned that he may ultimately have to vacate the belt he won by beating Jose Aldo in December.

"Conor needs to clean this up fast or Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar are fighting for the vacant featherweight title," he said, although he admitted it was not impossible to salvage the Diaz fight.

"If he called me after this interview we would probably still do it. We're spending $10 million in promotion for UFC200."

White also insisted that the UFC's relationship with McGregor was not damaged by this episode and he also expects him to fight again sooner rather than later.

"Our relationship isn't damaged at all. Conor was making a lot of money for this fight. His fight isn't for three months. It's not a money issue. Conor wasn't planning on delivering this weekend and I had to pull him. It's what had to be done."
