Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson will headline UFC 206

Daniel Cormier's highly anticipated rematch with Anthony Johnson will headline UFC 206 in Toronto later this year, UFC president Dana White has confirmed.

Although the bout has already been set for more than a week, rumours had circulated that the headline bout would be given to MMA legend Georges St-Pierre. Reports said that the Canadian may have taken on Anderson Silva, but White put talk of the bout between two legends of the sport to bed over the weekend.

Speaking on FS1’s "UFC Tonight", White confirmed to Cormier that he would be the headline fight: "Yeah, you’re the main event. There shouldn’t be a TBD above you."

Of St-Pierre's rumoured return he added: "I know guys that want to fight, and he’s not one of them."

Cormier takes part in his first fight since beating Anderson Silva at the main event at UFC 200 in July, when he was originally scheduled to take on Jon Jones in a light-heavyweight title unification fight.

Johnson is on a three fight win-streak since being submitted by Cormier at UFC 187, the latest of which came at UFC 202 in August when he beat Glover Teixeira in 13 seconds.

UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
