Europe Ryder Cup golfer Danny Willett says it's been difficult focusing on this week's clash with USA after his brother wrote a magazine article insulting US fans.
The piece by Pete Willett called the home supporters a "mob of imbeciles".
Danny Willett says he wants to put the controversy behind him ahead of the competition starting tomorrow.
"I spoke to some of the American guys last night and they felt the same way. So in an ideal world, the fans would do the same thing. Obviously it's my first Ryder Cup but we won't let it tarnish the 41st Ryder Cup," he said.
The 2016 Masters winner had already apologised for the piece written by his brother, including to USA captain Davis Love III.
But he also explained that he had spoken to his brother about the piece.
"I said to Pete that I was obviously disappointed in what was said and what was written about the American fans that obviously took me under their wing fantastically back in April [at the Masters]," he said.
