Danny Willett is preparing to return to golf after Masters win

Danny Willett returns to the day job this week, but life will never be the same again for the Masters champion.

The 28-year-old is in action this week at The Players Championship in Sawgrass just over four-weeks after winning the famous Green Jacket. Willett's previous appearance at The Players ended in a missed-cut last year.

"I was going to take a few weeks off and go on a holiday and just relax, take the little one away and just do normal things," Willett admitted when speaking to the press ahead of his return to golf. "But it’s obviously been a bit of chaos back home with media interviews and stuff, so it’s really not been the quiet four weeks I was expecting. And in a good way, obviously, so I guess that’s the only thing that’s really changed."

The Sheffield native became a father for the first time less than a fortnight before winning at Augusta. He has had to get used to the two major events in his lifetime happening one after the other.

He is most comfortable at home though, where golf chat is firmly off the radar when speaking to his family. "Mum has four boys and my dad’s got four boys, and talking about one will be a little bit harsh on the other three."

After returning to the tour, thanks to a four-week break, Willett revealed the players have not given him too much attention, which he is happy with. "Golf’s obviously not changing, and when you’re on tout, once the guys have said, ‘Well done,’ that’s kind of it. They go on with normal day jobs, and we’re all trying to beat each other this week."

The World number nine tees off this week on Thursday with Brandt Snedeker and Justin Rose. Willett will return to the European Tour next week at the Irish Open at the K-Club.
