He played together with Cleber Santana at Atletico Madrid
Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has paid tribute to former Atletico Madrid team-mate Cleber Santana.
The footballer sadly passed away in Tuesday's tragic plane crash which claimed the lives of members of Brazilian football team Chapecoense who had been travelling to Colombia for the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional.
Santana, who was 35, had joined Chapecoense in 2015.
A midfielder, he had spent three years at Spanish side Atletico Madrid between 2007 and 2010.
David De Gea, who is a product of the Atletico youth system, was a contemporary of Cleber Santana's at the club and played together with him.
The Spain international goalkeeper paid tribute to his former team-mate on Twitter:
Deeply affected by Medellin's plane crash. I shared locker with Cleber Santana and it's difficult to reveal how I feel. A huge hug. pic.twitter.com/TdeNzssZFN— David De Gea (@D_DeGea) November 29, 2016
