David Haye fit to fight, says promoter Eddie Hearn

Eddie Hearn insists David Haye will be fit to fight Tony Bellew this weekend at London's O2 Arena, with reports that the heavyweight may be forced to withdraw with an Achilles injury.

David Haye was pictured in Munich seeing his physician, Dr Muller-Wohlfahrt and there were murmurs that the fight might be in doubt.

Dr Muller-Wohlfahrt was the man who operated on Haye's injured right shoulder in 2013. Hearn, speaking to Press Association, says there are no questions surrounding his fitness.

"If he didn’t fight he couldn’t step in a British ring again," he said. "The public workouts are [on Wednesday]. If he wasn’t fighting I’d know. He will be at the workouts and he will be in the ring on Saturday.

"I’d heard about an Achilles [injury] a few weeks back but he was playing football on Soccer AM at the weekend.

"If you’re that worried about an Achilles injury you’re not playing football, are you? It’s known he sometimes goes to Munich for treatment. That’s where he had surgery on his shoulder."

The pair came face-to-face yesterday at a press conference and both had to be separated during the stare down. Haye has also been threatened with a ban by the British Boxing Board of Control for calling fans in Liverpool - supporting Bellew - "fucking retards".

There has been a negative response to the comments, including from Off The Ball's Kevin Kilbane who took the boxer to task over the "disgraceful" comments.

Always great to catch up with Dr Muller-Wohlfahrt. The worlds No.1 Sports Dr. 👌🏾
