David McGoldrick will not feature for the Republic of Ireland in their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Austria.

Martin O'Neill's side have the chance to climb back to the summit of Group D when they welcome their European counterparts to the Aviva Stadium on Sunday evening.

O'Neill will have to plan without McGoldrick as the 29-year-old continues to nurse a knee injury. The forward sat out training on Tuesday and has now left the camp.

He featured recently for Ireland against Mexico in New Jersey but failed to get on the scoresheet. Ireland return to training on Wednesday morning at 11am.
