David Moyes has some advice to offer Gary Neville as he heads to Spain

Gary Neville's appointment as the manager of Valencia Football Club shocked the football world during the week.

La Liga doesn't tend to be a destination for British managers, much less British coaches who have little or no management experience. However, David Moyes thought it his best option when he went there following the disappointment of his stint at Manchester United.

Moyes was fired after a poor start to his first full season in charge and he was on Sky Sports as a pundit prior to Granada's meeting against Atletico Madrid.

The subject of Gary Neville's appointment was brought up, rather inevitably, and Moyes offered his thoughts on the appointment. He said that Neville would have to get the wins initially and warned Neville that he would not be fluent in Spanish after six months.

He has no fear that Neville will throw himself straight into the culture, however, with his brother Phil there to ease him into his new environment.

The former Real Sociedad manager was asked what took him the longest time to adjust to and what Neville should pay attention to and he replied, "Getting to know the league and the style of players. Getting used to the eating times, which sounds simple, but it takes times to get used to the cultural change."

The Spanish tend to eat a sweet breakfast, light lunches and very late dinners, but it may prove to be a stumbling block for Gary as he's adamant that "dinner's at 12 o'clock, tea's at 5, no messing around!"
