David Wagner signs contract extension at Huddersfield

Huddersfield manager David Wagner has agreed a new contract ahead of their first-ever Premier League season.

The German has signed a deal that'll run for another two years and comes after he led the club to a promotion play-off final win at Wembley in his first full season in charge.

The 45-year-old's assistant head coach Christoph Buehler has also penned a new contract with the club until 2019.

"David and Christoph has put pen to paper on new contracts that will run until the summer of 2019 ahead of the Club’s first ever Premier League campaign," a statement from the club read on Friday morning.

Wagner and Buehler joined the Club from Borussia Dortmund II in November 2015 and helped guide Huddersfield to a fifth place finish in the Championship this year - following on from their 19th place finish the year previous.

Huddersfield start their campaign away to Crystal Palace.
