Davy Fitzgerald aiming to make his return to the sideline against Galway after surgery

Davy Fitzgerald will be doing his best to be on the sideline this weekend as his Clare side face off against Galway in the All-Ireland quarter-final.

According to The Irish Examiner, Fitzgerald had two angioplasty stints inserted in St. Vincent's hospital in Dublin after originally being admitted to a clinic in Galway on Monday.

It's not the first time that Fitzgerald has had heart issues however, as he also had an operation in 2009 to help with a blocked artery.

However, despite the procedure, his management team told the Irish Independent that they are hopeful he will be able to return to the sideline to assist the team for their match this Sunday. In light of their upcoming clash, the Tribesmen sent their best wishes to Fitzgerald, hoping for a speedy recovery for the two-time All-Ireland winner.

With his health being the main concern at this point in time, he may not return to the fold so soon, which would leave selectors Donal Og Cusack and Louis Mulqueen in charge, according to The Examiner

A dynamic presence on the sideline, Fitzgerald helped guide Clare to success in the league this season. It is expected that he will be released from hospital on Friday.
