Deontay Wilder retains his heavyweight title with another stoppage

The "Bronze Bomber" Deontay Wilder retained his WBC Heavyweight Title on Saturday night with an eighth round win over Chris Arreola.

Wilder has improved his record to 37-0, with 36 of those coming inside the distance. It was confirmed after the fight that he broke his hand and tore a bicep in the win.

After the win on front of his home fans in Birmingham, Alabama, Wilder set his sights on unifying the heavyweight belts, with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury holding the remaining belts in the division.

"It don't matter if I got a broke hand, got a torn muscle, I'm going to fight like heavyweight champions do. I don't play boxing. Of course I want the Furys, of course I want the Joshuas but the question is, do they want me?"

Despite the win, Wilder's injuries means he may not fight again in 2016. Tyson Fury's title defence against Wladimir Klitschko in October is expected to be the next heavyweight title fight.

Anthony Joshua's next title defence has yet to be confirmed.
