Diaz vs. McGregor II has reportedly broken UFC PPV records

Conor McGregor's rematch against Nate Diaz will surely go down as one of the greatest fights in UFC history and, if reports are to be believed, the numbers reflect that.

Today, MMA Fighting report that UFC 202 will be the "most successful non-boxing pay-per-view event" in the history of the genre.

Current estimates suggest that the fight will be in around 1.65 million buys, putting it ahead of their first fight which garnered 1.5 million PPV buys. Brock Lesnar's bout with Frank Mir at UFC 100 resulted in 1.6 million bought, but it appears this welterweight rematch will topple the figure.

However, the website reports that sources close to action say that the DirecTV numbers were "the highest in the promotion's history".

The 1.65 million projected number doesn't include orders directly through the UFC for streaming rather than television, but gives a good indication as to how the event is likely to do.

This was UFC's third show of 2016 to go above the one million mark. Their landmark show, UFC 200, in July is up alongside the two Diaz vs. McGregor fights.
