Does Manchester City's newest match-day innovation sound fun or annoying?

Manchester City hopes to establish itself as a facilitator of tech innovation, it has partnered with investment platform Ideas Britain to find new ways for fans, tech and football to interact.

During the coming 2016/17 season, Manchester City will work with a new in-stadium mobile video app called Snaptivity, which will allow supporters to use cameras around the stadium to take selfies of themselves on matchday.

The club says the "pioneering film technology will enable fans to relive those unforgettable moments in the stands on a matchday at the Etihad Stadium next season."

It allows fans to use cameras located around the stadium to take photos throughout the match. After you enter your seat number, the app will send the images straight to your phone - these can then be "downloaded and shared on social media."

The app has been crowned winner of Ideas Britain’s Innovation in Sport competition. The company will receive a "five-figure prize."

Manchester City's website also reports that the club is considering funding other projects which made the final shortlist including a colour-coded pair of football boots intended to help young players to improve their technique.

"Taking part in the Innovation in Sport competition has been an amazing experience for everyone at Manchester City," Andrew Gilligan, Head of Research and Insights at MCFC said.
