Cody Garbrandt looks to have earned himself a title shot at UFC 207 this December, with his impressive first round (48 second) TKO of Takeya Mizugaki enough to bump him up the ranks at 135lbs.

Garbrandt overcame the Japanese fighter at UFC 202 in August and his extremely impressive display was followed by a call-out in the middle of the Octagon.

"I'm going to break your jaw," Garbrandt said to Cruz, who was in the arena working as an analyst for FOX at the time.

His antics appear to have earned him a shot at the belt, with sources inside MMAFighting.com claiming that the fight is in the works for December's card headlined by the return of Ronda Rousey.

Garbrandt has a 10-0 professional career, with five of those victories coming inside the Octagon. Cruz, meanwhile, holds a professional record of 22-1 and has not been beaten since 2007.

The fight would be the second title fight on the card, with Rousey taking on Amanda Nunes for the bantamweight strap as the headline fight.
