Donald Trump thinks he's good enough to play on the PGA Tour

Donald Trump knows a thing or two about golf.

The 70-year-old owns numerous golf courses around the world, including in Doonbeg in Co. Clare. He also has put his name on some of the world's most famous courses including Turnberry in Scotland and Doral in Florida.

Trump was speaking to the 'Dr. Oz Show' in America on Wednesday, about his recent health check-up ahead of the US Presidential Election. The episode will be broadcast on Thursday in America.

According to CNN, a member of the audience revealed that Trump mentioned he thinks he is good enough to play on the PGA Tour.

"Kelly Platt, a pharmacist intern who said she is a Trump supporter -- said Trump told Oz that he is so good at golf he could join the PGA Tour."

Sam Snead is the oldest golfer to win a tournament on the PGA Tour. He won, what is now known as the Wyndham Championship in 1965, aged 52. On the Champions Tour (which is only eligible to players aged 50 or over), Mike Fetchick won the Hilton Head Seniors International on his 63rd birthday in 1985.

While you do not have to win a tournament, to be able to compete on the PGA Tour, Trump's assertions are a little wide of the mark. For a 70-year-old, he is an excellent golfer. He's just nowhere near the standard needed to compete with the World's elite, despite what his 3.0 golf handicap  or he says.
