Dundalk top the FAI's Fair Play League for 2016

The awards keep rolling in for Dundalk, as the FAI announced on Friday that the Premier Division champions topped the 2016 Fair Play League.

Stephen Kenny's side finished ahead of Derry City and Cork City to win the award. The club have also won €4,000 in prize-money for the achievement. If the league is one of the highest at the end of June, Dundalk could even even more from UEFA.

Dundalk General Manager Martin Connolly spoke of how the award has topped off an excellent domestic season for the Oriel Park side.

"We’re delighted to win the Fair Play award in what has been a fantastic season for the club."

"The award shows that the team are not only successful how they play the game but also do it in the right manner which is a fantastic accolade for the management staff and squad to have."

"Our exploits in Europe and at home have gained this football club a lot of respect during the course of the season and to receive the Fair Play award is testament to that."

The awards are determined by the performance of each team, in different categories.

- Red and Yellow cards

- Respect for opponents

- Respect for the referee team

- Behaviour of team officials

- Behaviour of spectators

From a maximum of 1,650 points, Dundalk won 1,094 points, 15 ahead of Derry City and a further three ahead of Cork City.
