Dundalk kick-off their bid for a fourth consecutive Premier Division title this month when they take on Shamrock Rovers.

The game will be shown live on Friday February 24 on eir Sport, who broadcast exclusive coverage of SSE Airtricity League games this season. The full schedule will be announced over the coming week.

"We are delighted that eir Sport have chosen to broadcast the Premier Division game between Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers as we prepare for the new SSE Airtricity League season," said Fran Gavin, FAI Director of Competitions.

"This promises to be another memorable year with each squad strengthening again and new targets being set. We have a number of announcements coming ahead of the opening weekend of fixtures that will excite supporters of the League as we all look forward to the football returning."

Shamrock Rovers go into the season with a renewed focus, having brought on board Stephen Bradley as their permanent manager.

Last November also saw them bring in recently retired Stephen McPhail as their sporting director. The game may see a return to Ronan Finn to his old club Dundalk, having signed for Rovers in December.

Among the new signings for Rovers have been former Stevenage man, David McAllister, as well as youth players Aaron Bolger, Dean Dillon and Luke Kiely.

Dundalk, meanwhile, have invested in their squad by signing former Chelsea player Conor Clifford and former Derry City star Michael Duffy. They have also made renovations at their home ground Oriel Park, where a new pitch surface is set to be put in place ahead of the new season.
