Emmanuel Petit urges Manchester United not to "waste" £100 million on Paul Pogba

Former France World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit believes Paul Pogba cannot be regarded as a "big star" yet.

The Arsenal legend also believes Man United should bid £100 million for Barcelona's Luis Suarez rather than sign the Juventus and France midfielder for that fee.

It comes after Pogba had an underwhelming Euro 2016 for France as the host nation finished as runners-up to Portugal.

"It is a waste of money for me," Petit told Yahoo Eurosport.

"Pogba, I think, has a great future, but this move is too early for him. I don't like the situation around him all the time. We are making him out to be a big star, but he is not a big star for me. He hasn't reached the level of the Champions League yet or the level with the national team. I am pretty sure he can do it, but this is too early. The way people talk about him in the press all the time, but I haven't seen it yet."

Meanwhile, Petit's former France team-mate Franck Leboeuf believes Les Bleus forward did not deserve his Player of the Tournament award.
