England players want Eoin Morgan to keep one-day captaincy

England's new one-day captain Jos Buttler has said he expects Eoin Morgan to return to the role, after the conclusion of the tour of Bangladesh.

The team play three one-day internationals and a tour match in the Asian country over a ten-day period next month. The Dublin-born Morgan, along with Alex Hales have not travelled due to security concerns,

Morgan has been widely criticised for his decision, due to his captaincy position, but Buttler said he has the support of teammates. Speaking to The Times, Buttler said Morgan "is very much still the captain of the England ODI side."

"He's done a fantastic job over the last 18 months. He's been one of the main reasons, if not the main reason, for England's turnaround in fortunes."

The former Ireland international switched allegiances in 2007 to England, with the dream of playing test cricket. He has since played in 16 test matches, scoring two centuries, and has been promoted to become England's one-day captain in both the 50-over and 20-over formats.

Morgan has previously played in a game, where a bomb was detonated in the ground, and has vowed never to play in a scenario, where the security could have a distracting effect on his game.

"In 2010 we played an Indian Premier League game in Bangalore and a bomb went off in the ground. Immediately we left and went straight to the airport."

Buttler added that the views of Morgan and Hales were respected by the rest of the squad. They play their first tour game on October 3rd.

"As a colleague and a friend I completely respect his decision as I know everyone in the dressing room does. He'll have thought long and hard about it and made the decision he thinks is right for him."

Morgan may return to the team (with or without the captaincy) ahead of three ODI's and three Twenty20 internationals in January and February.
