On June 27th last year, Iceland knocked England out of Euro 2016.
It was one of the biggest shocks in the tournament, and one of the lasting memories, as Iceland became most fans' second-favourite team. The relationship between the team and its fans was one of the highlights of the 24-team tournament.
It looks like Iceland's performances in France, may have given their country's population a little boost. Nine months later, it has been reported in Iceland that the country had a record number of epidurals last week.
Asgeir Petur Porvaldsson, resident doctor in the Department of Anaesthesiology at Reykjavik's Landspitali University Hospital revealed that there was more than usual in recent days.
"Set a record for the number of epidurals in the maternity duty this weekend", he revealed. "Nine months after the 2-1 win over England".
While, there is nothing to link the two incidents, could Iceland's next census see an unexpected rise in population. Ireland had it's Italia '90 baby boom, 27 years later, Iceland may follow suit.
