FAI reveal how over-subscribed Ireland's Euro 2016 fixtures are as ticket details unveiled

The FAI have confirmed that they have received 275,000 ticket applications for Ireland's Euro 2016 group matches this summer.

With a combined total of 26,000 tickets allocated for that match, only a lucky few will make it into the stadiums for the games against Sweden, Belgium and Italy in the cities of Paris, Bordeaux and Lille respectively.

"For Ireland's three Group E games - against Sweden (June 13), Belgium (June 18) and Italy (June 22) - there is a combined total allocation of 26,000 tickets available and with over 275,000 tickets applied for this indicates just how heavily over-subscribed each fixture is," says the FAI.

"While it is impossible to meet the demand of each ticket request, the FAI will endeavour to reward the most loyal supporters. UEFA will contact each applicant to inform them of the timeline expected for payments to be taken, while all applicants will be informed of their final status by February 29 at the latest."

The Association also confirmed that a number of UEFA awarded tickets will be allocated towards fans with a stellar attendance record.

For each Participating National Association at EURO 2016 a total of 2,000 tickets have been awarded by UEFA. The FAI intends to distribute these tickets, once the ticketing process is complete, to unsuccessful applicants with a proven match attendance track record, and to the 'Football Family.'"
