FIFA presidential candidate Sheikh Salman thinks only one person should be allowed to run

FIFA Presidential candidate Sheikh Salman has stated that only one candidate should be on the ballot paper ahead of the February 26th vote.

Salman, along with UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino, is one of the frontrunners to replace Sepp Blatter later this month. Currently, there a five names on the ballot paper for the election.

If Salman gets his way, there would be a similar scenario to the one that saw Blatter elected in 2011, when the Swiss was the only one named on the ballot paper.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Salman states that a consensus should be agreed before the election because "if we go to election there will be losers and maybe sometimes you need to avoid that result".

Salman is the President of the Asian Football Confederation and is seen by many as the favourite to become FIFA's next president. The 50-year-old is also a member of the Bahrain royal family.

"If there is an agreement then I think it is a win-win. Everybody is involved and everybody has a share of the power and gets involved in the decision-making. But everybody has the right to run and go ahead. It is not up to me to decide on that".
