Five players sent off in a 'friendly' game between Argentina rivals

In a game which had 40 fouls and nine bookings, five players were issued red cards in what was intended to be a friendly game between rival Argentina clubs River Plate and Boca Juniors.

The hostilities this weekend saw three Boca players sent off, which brings their tally of dismissals for the week to a grand total of five players over just two games.

Speaking after the game, former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez - who gave away a penalty to hand River a 1-0 win - slammed the behaviour of his team-mates.

''In four days, five sent off, in two matches, we must grow up.'' he told reporters.

Champions Boca Juniors were reduced to 10 when recent signing Jonathon Silva lunged on Gabriel Mercado, forcing the River Plate defender to leave the pitch with an injured ankle.

Boca defenders Gino Peruzzi was the next to be sent to the line for a dangerous foul followed by Daniel Diaz for insulting the referee.

River centre-back Jonathon was then dismissed for head butting Tevez which sparked a feud which saw his River team mate Pisculichi, to be the final player sent off in the game.
