Some teams will be happy to see the back of 2015. Records have been broken, managers have come and gone and the Premier League has been the most competitive in recent memory.
With the turn of the New Year comes the opportunity for a fresh start, in particular as the January transfer market opens. With the Euros taking place this summer, there are a number of players who would benefit from a move to put themselves in a better position to go to France this summer, or simply get their careers back on track.
1) Aiden McGeady
McGeady's move to Everton in January last year looked like a shrewd bit of business from Roberto Martinez.
16 appearances for the Merseyside club and a goal to show for his efforts was an impressive return as he settled into life at Goodison Park, and aside from some knee and back injuries at the closing stages of last season, it looked like a promising start for the Ireland winger.
However, with the return of Gerard Deulofeu to the squad and the continuing presence of Aaron Lennon as the preferred winger, it seems McGeady's options are once again becoming limited.
There is some speculation that Celtic are interested in bringing him back to Park Head, however Ronny Delia admits that the player's wage demands may break the wage structure in place at Parkhead at the moment.
A move with the guarantee of first team football would seriously improve his chances of making Ireland's Euro 2016 squad, but he would have to factor in the drop in quality that comes with playing in the Scottish Premiership.
Everton have a wealth of midfielders in Deulofeu, Lennon, Gareth Barry and the flourishing Tom Cleverley however, so a move may be the shot in the arm McGeady needs to book his spot to France.

Potential move: Celtic
2) Jack Rodwell
After signing for Manchester City from Everton back in 2012, £15m looked like a steal for the newly crowned champions of England.
Always viewed as a player for the future, but who showed undoubted quality, Rodwell's career has since come to a shuddering halt. Understandably so, when you consider that he was trying to break into a midfield that boasted the likes of David Silva and Yaya Toure.
He already made his move to get some more game time in going to Sunderland, but his time there has been littered with injury as he endured six spells on the sidelines in the past year, between a foot injury and hamstring issues.
13 league appearances this season has seen him re-establish himself as a player more than capable of playing at Premier League level, but Sunderland's record has been poor so far this season, and their latest 1-0 defeat at home to Liverpool means they sit seven points adrift of safety in 19th position.
Should Sunderland make the plunge into the Championship, Rodwell would do well to jump ship for a host of Premier League teams who would undoubtedly line up for his services but the challenge for him is to stay fit, after he had another set back just a few days ago.

Potential Move: West Brom
3) Loïc Rémy
It's been a strange journey in the Premier League so far for Loïc Rémy, who's been through the ranks of Queens Park Rangers, Newcastle (on loan) and Chelsea.
While that might suggest journeyman to some, he has proven at every stage that he knows where the back of the net is and is more than capable of scoring when given a run in the team. Despite limited time on the pitch (he's only got one league start this season) he appears to be able to put that to one side and produce when asked to.
Even though he has scored just eight times with Chelsea, his previous record in the league suggest that he would flourish should he get an extended run as a the focal point of an attack that needs goals.
Aston Villa have been rumoured to be interested in signing him, but the propsect of joining that sinking ship is unlikely to be top of the list for the Frenchman. Crystal Palace have also been linked with him, and given their strikers can't score for love nor money (not to mention Bamford is apparently leaving soon), coupled with the fact that he could still live in London, there are plenty of positives in a move to Selhurst Park.

Potential Move: Crystal Palace
4) John Stones
The England international will breathe a huge sigh of relief that his rumoured move to Chelsea didn't go ahead over the summer.
Everton have had a good first half of the season, where striker Romelu Lukaku is finding his range after a disappointing term last year.
Stones has proven himself as a player who not only can be an important cog in a defensive line, but also play the ball out from the back, something he demonstrated in spades against Chelsea in early September.
However, considering the topsy turvy season we've had, Everton still don't look like they have the quality to break into the top four, mainly thanks to their problems at the back.
One would assume the next step up for 21-year-old would be European football; both Manchester clubs have been monitoring his situation, looking at him as a long-term signing to stay at the heart of their defence.
City may be the ones pushing harder for a move, however, considering they are missing captain their Vincent Kompany and a number of high profile errors from Eliaquim Mangala means they need to bring in some reinforcements to keep their title bid on track.

Potential Move: Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea.
5) Jonathan Walters
There is a revolution in the air at Stoke City. Mark Hughes is on a one-man crusade to transform the image of the club from long ball merchants who are difficult to beat, to a team who play slick, attractive football.
For the most part, this is a positive sign. The side's defensive capabilities are still impressive, and Ryan Shawcross has been imperious this season.
What has transformed is their attacking tactics: Bojan Krkić, Marko Arnautović and Xherdan Shaqiri have all enjoyed wonderful seasons so far.
Hughes has moved the emphasis off the lone target man, a position that Jonathan Walters has thrived in, to a more passing approach to their attacks. Their latest victory over Everton has shown just how devastating the new look forward line can be when they all hit their stride.
Walters, barring an injury, will almost certainly be included in Ireland's Euro 2016 campaign, but being the wrong side of 30 in a team that is changing its style, he may look elsewhere for new opportunities.
The majority of Premier League teams now operate with a lone frontman, so there is a market for him to move into and his experience also appeals to a number of teams who may be promoted or are looking to stay out of a relegation scrap.
