Football Manager 16 is out now and there are the usual question marks about which teams to take over

For many fans of the Football Manager series, they might as well sign their spare time away from today onwards.

That's because FM16 is officially out now and we've been building up to the release date on Team 33 for the last few weeks.

A couple of weeks ago, our own Joe Coffey chatted to director of studio Miles Jacobson about how the series has developed since its inception in the Championship Manager era:

We also spoke to one of our favourite contributors and Football Manager Stole My Life author Iain Macintosh about his new book The Football Manager Guide To Football Management which looks at the crossover between the game and real-life on the touchline:

But now that Football Manager 16 is out, what teams should you be picking for your simulation?

At club level in FM15, I initially went for Everton due to their strong and well-balanced squad last season and their mixture of promising youth (Ross Barkley, Romelu Lukaku and John Stones) and top level experience (Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines etc), and aside from falling out spectacularly with Samuel Eto'o over playing time (he didn't understand that a 53-year-old cannot be relied on regularly) and a war of words with the simulated version of Brendan Rodgers, my Toffees side stuck to the challenge and managed to get into the Premier League's Top Four.

Brendan Rodgers can't hide his hatred for some lad called Raf Diallo who did NOT gloat once

Everton would be a good shout again with much the same squad and the added bonus of winger Gerard Deulofeu.

Roma was another which was worth a go last season, although that did not go well for me. However, the addition of Edin Dzeko on loan this time means there is at least an elite striker to start with in the squad as well as goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

The greatest challenge can sometimes be to take on big clubs that have either fallen on hard times or are punching below their weights, so looking around Europe, Newcastle have some interesting talents if you can strengthen their defence, taking Leeds back to the top can be the greatest test of your career, while Celta Vigo, that young Lyon squad and a newly promoted AEK Athens are examples of clubs that could be rewarding if success happens.

As with many people, time (or a lack of it) means it's often nigh on impossible to dedicate seconds, minutes, hours or attention to a particular "project" as the young breed of football managers like Andre Villas-Boas like to call their jobs.

That's why I prefer to take on international management jobs, given the less hectic schedule and responsibilities they provide. For instance, Jack Grealish did accept call ups to my Ireland squad in FM15 without fobbing me off once as the Boys in Green qualified for the Euros. So, it will probably be a Grealish-less Ireland again on FM16. The lack of young players coming through will be an issue but Barcelona may come calling when myself and assistant Roy Keane inspire a Greece 2004 style triumph.

Or you can do what Joe likes to do and take over your favourite team - Arsenal and a title tilt in his case. Either way, enjoy it when you can find the time!
