Former Liverpool players react to amazing comeback against Borussia Dortmund

Liverpool's win against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night at Anfield was a remarkable comeback, as the much maligned Dejan Lovren headed home a late, late winner to see his side through.

The three goal comeback was an unlikely scenario, in particular with Liverpool 3-1 down at one stage, but many fans highlighted the introduction of Joe Allen as the point at which they turned the scoreline around.

That lead to a number of people declaring the Welsh Xavi was the difference maker in the match.

Former Liverpool players Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina clearly still hold a place in their heart for their former club also, as they shared their messages of support after the final whistle blew on a remarkable night.

As the comeback was happening, Champions League winner Luis Garcia took to Twitter to state that he was witnessing familiar scenes at Anfield.

Another former player, Jamie Carragher, was also on social media as well as being at the game, and shared a video of the scenes taking place after the match.

BBC pundit Gary Lineker, like many others, was stunned by what he had witnessed, while John Aldridge was left with a sore throat from his excited reaction to Lovren's winner.

Of course, Borussia Dortmund were the unlucky ones who were on the wrong end of the comeback, but were fairly polite about it all on social media afterwards.
