Four-time Olympian reveals she was only ever given one Olympic ticket from the OCI for family

Olive Loughnane, the 20-kilometre race-walking World Champion from 2009 has revealed she was only ever given one ticket from the Olympic Council of Ireland for her family despite competing in four Olympic Games.

Despite competing in Sydney, Athens, Beijing and London, Loughnane admitted on Twitter that she was only ever given a solitary ticket by the OCI.

"Competed in 4 Games. Can only remember getting one single ticket for my event", the 40-year-old revealed.

The 40-year-old's story comes off the back of Brazilian Police evidence, alleging to show e-mail transcripts sent between OCI President Pat Hickey and Marcus Evans, the owner of the ticketing company THG. In the e-mails, Hickey revealed that the OCI had not planned to use any of their Opening or Closing Ceremony tickets that were allocated to them by the IOC.

Loughnane was unsure which Games she got it for, but knew it was either "Athens or Beijing". The World Champion also added that she "Asked [the OCI} which of my parents I'd give it to?!?!"

Numerous family members of Olympic athletes have spoken in recent days about having issues getting tickets for Rio 2016. Liam Treacy, the father of steeplechaser Sara revealed that his family "had to wait several weeks" before the purchases were confirmed.
