Freddie Roach wants Pacquiao-Mayweather 2

Famed boxing trainer Freddie Roach is hoping a good performance in Manny Pacquiao's next fight will entice Floyd Mayweather into a rematch.

The Filipino is due to face Australian Jeff Horn at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane in July when he defends his WBO welterweight title.

The "Pacman" comprehensively out-boxed Jessie Vargas to win the title last November - a fight which saw Mayweather sitting ringside.

Roach is hoping Pacquiao puts in a convincing performance as he looks to redeem his 2015 decision loss to the American.

Speaking ahead of the bout in the Philippines , Roach said: "I do believe we can knock this guy out. We have the tools to do that.

"I think Manny will have to look good in this fight to get to Mayweather, because if Mayweather is deciding whom he’d fight next I’d like that to be us."

The American is currently in negotiations for a cross-over super-fight against UFC star Conor McGregor but nothing has yet been scheduled.

Mayweather's defensive style has seen him amass a professional record of 49-0, but he hasn't fought since he beat Andre Berto in September 2015.

Pacquiao hasn't recorded a stoppage since his TKO win over Miguel Cotto in 2009 and his coach is hoping to get that brutal instinct back.

"I’m looking to please all the fans and the way to do that is score a knockout," he said.

"If he has lost the killer’s instinct, I’d like that to come back."
