Francois Hollande feels that the security measures in place will ensure safety
French president Francois Hollande has said the threat of terrorism will not stop the European Championships being a success.
Mr Hollande feels that the security measurements that have been implemented will ensure the safety of the fans who are travelling to the country for Euro 2016.
Speaking with France Inter radio that the deployment of a 90,000-strong security force should offer reassurances to those travelling to the 10 host cities.
He said that the tournament should be a "festival for people and for sports" but that fans must accept the security checks at stadiums and fan zones.
"This threat, alas, will exist for a long time so we must guarantee this great event ... is successful. It will be," he added.
