French newspaper L'Equipe has claimed that former New Zealand and current Racing 92 fly-half Dan Carter was one of three players to test positive to corticosteroids before the Top 14 Final earlier this summer.

Racing 92 defeated Toulon 29-21 in the June final which was held in Barcelona's Camp Nou. The game was moved from its traditional Stade de France venue due to France's hosting of Euro 2016.

Carter, along with Joe Rokocoko and  Juan Imhoff were all tested by French anti-doping authorities before the Final. The fly-half was named man of the match, while Rokocoko scored a try in the win.

Despite the reports in L'Equipe, Carter and Rokocoko's manager Simon Porter claimed the two players were aware of the allegations. Porter told the New Zealand Herald that both players has Therapeutic Use Exemptions.

"We have been aware of the issue for a few weeks. Our understanding and assurances we've had are all the documents around TUEs were in place."

Both men were recovering from injury, which is why Porter claims the corticosteroid was found in their systems. Carter limped off early in Champions Cup Final, weeks previously.

L'Equipe claim that Carter, Rokocoko and Imhoff, did not have a TUE for the game, despite Porter's assertions.
