Froome stretches Tour de France lead but Ireland's Dan Martin still on course for podium

Defending champion Chris Froome has extended his lead in the yellow jersey after finishing in second place on today's 11th stage of the Tour de France.

Froome settled for second behind stage winner Peter Sagan after the pair were part of a quartet who broke clear of the rest of the peleton on the approach to the finish line in Montpellier.

It means that Ireland's Dan Martin remains in third place overall, but he now finds himself 31 seconds behind Froome.

Martin finished 35th overall in the 11 stage which took place between Carcassonne and Montpellier.

Britain's Adam Yates remains second in the General Classification, three seconds clear of Martin. Yates was classified 15th for the 11th stage.
