GAA confirm bumper fixture schedule for next weekend in both codes

The GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee has confirmed the fixture details have been confirmed for next weekend's Championship action in both codes.

The Round 2 qualifiers in the All-Ireland Hurling championships will be held back-to-back this Saturday at Semple Stadium.

The Thurles venue will thus play host to a triple-header of matches as the football qualifier between Cork and Limerick will also be throwing-in there at 3pm as the prelude to the hurling.

That match will be followed by the meeting of the Cork and Wexford hurlers at 5pm and the clash of Limerick and Clare from 7pm.

Meanwhile on the same day, in Round 2A of the football qualifiers, Derry will host Meath in Owenbeg at 2.30pm and Cavan will have to cope with a six day turnaround as they face Carlow at Kingspan Breffni Park at 5pm.

In the other games, Mayo will host Fermanagh in McHale Park from 3.30pm. After that, Monaghan clash with Longford in Clones at 6pm, while Kildare and Offaly will meet in Newbridge at 6.30pm.

Meanwhile, the Ulster Council has confirmed that the provincial final between Tyrone and Donegal will be held in Clones on July 17th.

There had been some suggestions that the game could be switched to Croke Park to accomodate the level of interest in the tie, but the two sides are now set to meet at the 36,000 capacity stadium in Clones, where there will be a 2pm throw-in.

Donegal beat Monaghan in a replay to advance to the final, while Tyrone reached the final in the same way by eventually overcoming Cavan.
