Mike Finnerty joined this morning's OTB AM to discuss last night's departure of Mayo manager Stephen Rochford.
The Mayo man stepped down after a stand-off with the Mayo county board's executive committee.
Mayonews.ie's Finnerty believes rumours circulating around Mayo GAA regarding behaviour from certain clubs have had no influence in the decision for Rochford to step down.
"There are a few myths doing the rounds about Mayo football over the last few years. Particularly the heel in 2015, and one of them is Breaffy GAA club exert a huge influence over Mayo GAA affairs, and in particular the Mayo Senior team.
Finnerty says the rumours and myths could not be further from the truth.
"Nothing could be further from the truth. Peter Ford is a Ballinrobe man, Shane Conway was born in England saying he has no connection with Breaffy, other than he's the joint-manager of the Breaffy senior team with Peter Forde.
Breaffy GAA club have been singled out as a club side that received favouritism from the Mayo county board. Finnerty again says it is nothing more than a myth.
Peter Ford and Shane Conway are joint managers of the Breaffy senior club team, both joined Rochford’s invitation to come on board as selectors for the 2019 campaign.
"They've been there the last couple of years, and this myth in some way that Breaffy players exert an influence over the manager, or had some influence in the picking of the last manager.
