WATCH | Conor McKeon on Stephen Cluxton snub: "I think Cluxton has been the most influential player"

Conor McKeon says Stephen Cluxton's omission from the PWC All-Star team is surprising after another stellar season for the Dublin net minder.

The journalist says the player has been one of Dublin's most influential players over the last for All-Ireland winning seasons but has yet to add to his five All-Star awards.

The Dubliner has not picked up an All-Star award since the 2013 season.

McKeon joined Ger Gilroy and Eoin Sheahan on Thursday's OTB AM.

"I think Cluxton has been the most influential player in the four in a row - none of those season which has ended with him getting an All-Star.

McKeon believes it's odd the Dublin captain hasn't been rewarded, especially after a four-year spell where he captained his side to four Sam Maguire's on the bounce.

"I think it's odd that three years that he's gone very, very close to an All-Star, he hasn't got them in any year. Rory Beggan's claims are strong but again there is a contrast and compare thing, here. Beggan played nine games, and Cluxton played six and a bit.

Monaghan's Rory Began received the accolade after a semi-final run but McKeon says he played more games, and says he ultimately had more mistakes than the Dublin keeper.

"He had more spectacular kick outs but he also gave more kick outs away. people talk about his kick out performance against Kerry but late on in that game Kerry pressed up an won three kick outs, that they turned into scores.

"He also had mistakes like the one he kicked over the end line against Tyrone in All-Ireland semi-final. The goal against Fermanagh; Eoin Donnelly's goal which knocked Monaghan out of Ulster, when he came prematurely for a ball. And another one against Armagh; which ultimately wasn't particularly important or detrimental to Monaghan.
