A great day for the Shannonsiders who recovered from an eight-point half-time deficit to seal promotion from Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League for the first time in eight years with a 2-18 to 1-19 victory over All-Ireland champions Galway in Pearse Stadium.

The 1-7 from Aaron Gillane and a key goal from Kyle Hayes in the final quarter put Limerick back where they belong according to Doon's Barry Murphy.

Limerick went to Salthill’s Pearse Stadium to play the All Ireland and League champions in the knowledge that a win or draw would seal promotion out of Division 1B.
The Limerick team showed six changes from the side that beat Antrim in round four two weeks ago.
Back into the side came a quartet of UL Fitzgibbon Cup winners, along with experienced duo Nickie Quaid and Seamus Hickey.
Quaid and Hickey are two of just six players in the 43-man Limerick panel that have previously played in Division 1A of the Allianz Hurling League.
Trailing by eight points at the break worrying signs were everywhere for Limerick, who admirably refused to hit the panic button.
Substitute Kyle Hayes’ 48th minute goal was a key score on a memorable afternoon.
It hadn’t been so pleasant for Limerick initially, Galway thundered into the contest mining 1-3 inside four minutes.
Conor Cooney and David Burke drilled points before Cathal Mannion rattled the Limerick net and Johnny Coen added a further score as Galway settled impressively.
Limerick, though, responded hitting 1-2 without reply themselves including a sixth minute goal from an Aaron Gillane penalty as they clawed their way back.
It's a huge shot in the arm for a county that LOVES their hurling.
John Kiely is also principal of the Abbey CBS in Tipp town.
Fair to say his young charges gave youngsters a masterclass in belief.
