Pat Gilroy outlines his policy for Dublin's dual threats

Dublin's new hurling manager Pat Gilroy does not believe that there will be civil conflict in Dublin over the allegiances of dual players.

"I have a great relationship with Jim Gavin. I have a great relationship with the football team and the guys who play there so, I'm not going to be doing anything that's going to mess their plans ... My attitude is if guys really want to play hurling with Dublin that's great. If they are playing well with their club I'll consider them, I don't care who they are.

"There will be open communication lines between me and Jim all the time about the whole thing because we are both Dublin teams. The hurlers want always the footballers to win, the footballers want the hurlers to win, so, there will be no conflict there. I think between myself and Jim, we'll just use common sense here," he told Off The Ball's Oisin Langan.

He also said that he is "almost there" when it comes to assembling his background team and that he believes those details will be announced in the coming weeks.

"Nobody can do all the jobs, my job at the top is to try to make sure that all the jobs are done well," he added when he was asked if he plans to play a 'director of hurling' role, but the Dubliner also said that he will be directly involved in coaching the team.
