Five of Ireland's eight strong Olympic boxing team competed in exhibition matches in the National Stadium on Friday night against a Russian selection.

The night of fights was part of the team's preparation ahead of the Olympic Games. It is the last time the Irish team will compete on home soil ahead of travelling to Brazil.

All eight Irish qualified boxers were in attendance but only Paddy Barnes, Michael Conlan, Brendan Irvine, Steven Donnelly and Joe Ward fought on the card.

David Oliver Joyce and Michael O’Reilly both were dealing with minor injuries, while Katie Taylor was given the night off by the High Performance staff.
